Kloster Eberbach - Dormitory

This is another view of the former dormitory of the monks at Kloster Eberbach. This room (amongst others at Kloster Eberbach) was part of the film-set of "The Name of the Rose" (book written by Umberto Eco) with Sean Connery.

The small door you see on the right is actually a "magic door" ;) - whenever Sean Connery stepped through it, he ended up in Italy where they filmed the library which supposedly was hidden behind the door.

Check out the other photo of the dormitory on my Rheingau Daily Photo blog.

ahhh soooo fascinating - now I have to see the movie ;)
I love the lighting coming in - so nice blend of shadow and light. Have you dried going to Italy from this door? ;)

Sean Connery, I've been told many times of our resemblance. My father could have been his twin brother.

A "magic door," with a treasure of words hidden behind it...how otherwise could they have named the movie, "The Name of the Rose."

You have staged me into a pleasant place of history.

I like this one better than the perspective one (which is great). Composition and illumination are lovely. Good to know about the movie too. Excellent shot Nicola
