Last year, Seamus, a friend of mine from the MSP, together with Sarah Mattern started a project called
"The Organic City". It's a community storytelling project focused on the downtown Oakland (California, USA) areas surrounding Lake Merritt. Through their website they encourage people to read and write stories (text, audio, or video) about local places. Right now they're also working on a mobile experience for the stories.
It's a really fun project and they've been nominated for a Webby Award 2006 in the Best Student Website category.
Please check out their website and then vote for them! Voting is open to the public from April 11th to May 5th at

Yeah, he told us about it...didn't know it got this successful though afterwards. Bravo for them :-) It was a neat idea I thought, and let me go over there to vote for them ;-) Thanks for bringing them up, Nicola...
Hey Nicola, Thanks so much for supporting our website. It is really cool of you to feature us on your blog. Thanks Maya too for voting too!
Good luck, Seamus :-) I did vote for you guys and now you're in the second place, so I hope it'll change to the first before the voting is closed ;-) Good luck...and congratulation on the nomination, that's quite an achievement. We're proud of you...
You're welcome Seamus!
Maya, let's see how we're gonna get them on the first place... :)
Hi
The link is alittle trickie to find, but for the benefit of potential voters, they need to go to the category called Conections then press on the link called Student.
I like the concept - I have/had an idea similar to this but not quite - I just need to find the time to put the website together.- Good luck!
