"Kulinarische Weinprobe" in Kiedrich

Last weekend we went to a so-called "culinary wine tasting" meaning you get really good food while tasting several wines of a winery. Two friends of ours were the "chefs" for the tasting and I think everyone agreed that they did a great job. I just forgot to take a photo of the main course. Here is the menu (in German and English):

Cremesuppe vom Riesling-Sauerkraut mit Nuss - Croutons
Riesling-Sauerkraut creme soup with nut croutons

Feldsalat mit warmen Ziegenkäsetalern
Field salad with warm goat cheese (marinated with honey!)

Zwiebel-Balsamico-Blutwurst im Wirsingmantel
Onion-balsamico-blood sausage in savoy cabbage

Filet vom Schwein auf Bratkartoffel-Rosenkohl-Bett
Pork filet on a potato-brussels sprout-bed

Dreierlei vom Pfannenkuchen mit süßem Kern
Three kinds of pancakes with sweet inside

The wines were really good as well! To find out more about the winery, check out their website:

Berlin Zoo

One of the first things we did this year was a visit to the Zoo in Berlin. Although I've been to Berlin already several times, I had never made it to the zoo. It's right in the middle of the city which I think is amazing considering the space it takes and needs. I think their Panda bears are quite famous since there are not many zoos in Germany that have them. Of course it would be nicer to see them in their natural environment but it's wonderful to be able to see them here and they seemed to be quite content with their condition (it's a difficult topic, I know)...

New Year's Eve in Berlin

I hope you had a great start into the New Year 2007! We spent it in Berlin with about 1.5 Million other people. The area around the Brandenburg gate was packed with people but we still had a great time. Sorry, no photos from the fireworks - I was afraid to take my camera with me (what a chicken I am ;) ). Above are some photos from the Potsdamer Platz (except for the first one which shows the area around "Unter den Linden". Although temperatures were quite warm for December/January, they had a theme park there: Winter Wonderland with artificial snow. It was fun to watch.
