Venice in Early Spring

Venice is soooo beautiful that you cannot avoid taking "touristy" pictures - it just happens. :) We stayed in a small hotel outside of the city (in Mira) and took the bus every day. Also, the whole trip was combined with a drawing class (but that's a different post).

The first days in Venice, it was a bit chilly so whenever we got a chance we went into one of these little bars and coffee shops to warm up. Later we got sunshine which was perfect!

Gondoliere posing in front of the Rialto bridge for a professional photo shooting. We passed by with the Vaporetto (water bus) and I was lucky to get my camera out in time.

Have you ever read one of the Donna Leon Books about the Commisario in Venice? Then look closer at the door bells... :).

Lunch break at a small wine store - they served tapas-like food which was delicious!

Just beautiful!! Venice is a must-go place at least once in our lives :-) I'm glad we both have been there! Oh those cappuccinos are just the right taste...esp. for breakfast with croissant with marmalade a l'italien, yum!
Nice shots! I can't wait to see your drawings though...

When I get some more extra time I'll upload some drawings. It was sooo different experiencing a city this way - just picking a spot and sit there for a while drawing and taking in the surroundings. It felt more intense but also more relaxed than rushing from one sight to the other :). I hope we get a chance to go there again!

Nicola,

You always take the most wonderful pictures. :) I'll have to ask you about this package drawing in Venice the next time we see each other. It is something I would like to do. Sounds really romantic. Can we see the drawing?
Big Hugs.
