Love the images you captured! sounds like Portugal is another place to check out here in Europe...what about culture, food, board and lodging? was it worth the money you spent? thanks for sharing these cool photos...
We stayed in a small town called Carvoeiro (1st photo) which I actually didn't like too much - too touristy, and the only dinner we had there was quite expensive and the waiters behaved incredibly arrogant and snippy (should have left right away when we noticed...).
Luckily, our hotel (Vila Domilu) was a bit outside and really, really nice! It's run as a family business - the family that owns it now has bought it a year ago and they've been changing a lot (rooms with complete new furniture and decoration) and very motivated people working there. They even had two outdoor sea-water-pools and one indoor pool.
We had booked a rental car which was great - it enabled us to see all there is to see in the area. We even went to Sevilla to meet Daniel (just 2 hours away)!
Over all, if you go to the sidestreets and look out for restaurants where you see the locals eating, you can have some great food for about 8 Euros per person. We had lots of fresh grilled fish (all kinds) and enjoyed the Portugals red wine, plus the food is often spiced with lots of garlic (yummm) - very healthy :).

Sounds good, Nicola :-) Renting a car helps a lot it seems...that's cool that you guys even had time to meet up with Daniel in Sevilla.
Thanks for the chat ;-) let me know when we can go ahead with 'it' I'm excited too...
