Kloster Eberbach - Cloister

This is the cloister at Kloster Eberbach, a former abbey in the Rheingau. I somehow always like the atmosphere of these buildings and especially the cloister. It has something very calming to me. Can't put my fingers down on what it is... maybe the absence of a lot of distracting things (noise, other people, etc.), maybe the garden that is in the middle of it (check out the photo of it here), maybe even the repetitive structure of the ceiling...

Very nice designs. I like the soft rose colors and lighting coming through the hall.

Hi Nicola!

Beautiful AND peaceful...and how funny...I took some shots at our local monestary this morning too...and plan on posting one from that series tomorrow!

Nice to see someone else feels the same way about the serenity factor of places like this...they always seem to draw me in too!

Have a great day!

Everything is real in this place not just for amusing people. It's certainly a work of architecture.

Thought I'd seen this before. I prefer this one to the one you posted on your other blog. It captures the serenity and beauty you speak of well.
