New camera - any suggestions?

Since I'm taking a lot of photos lately, I'm determined to get myself a new camera that is smaller, faster, and handier than the camera I have now. So far, I've been looking into Canon Ixus or a Canon PowerShot, but I haven't really gone into it yet, so I don't know much about the advantages and disadvantages. Any ideas, tips, recommendations?

Mine is really handy, small, light and great so far...5.0 from Panasonic Lumix FX-7 with Leica lens. Not good for distance at night especially, and battery runs off pretty fast because of the huge lcd screen...otherwise, it's been GREAT! :-) Good luck for searching...you're going to be more serious in all this photo taking, aren't you? Good news, Nicola...

Thanks for the tips! I did some research now but before buying anything, I'll go to a store first and take a look there just to see how big they actually are (hard to tell from a photo on the internet) and how they feel in your hand...

Hi Nicola, I bought the Cannon SD450 for my sister, the same one Maya is talking about. I used it a lot when I was in Brazil and what I love about it is its size. The camera is 5mpx and very small but the lcd is huge, 2.5". It fits even in your pocket, so if you're looking for a point and shoot camera to carry around with you everywhere you go, I would suggest that.
Beijos!
